' The present issue of the Auckland Weekly News is of such unusual interest I and excellence that it is likely to become I historical. Full-page pictures of His | Majesty, King Edward VDI. and Her Majesty Queen Alexandra have been produced of a quality that marks the high standard of illustrated journalism in Auckland. ] Distinctive because entirely original arc the ] full-page and half-page pictures of the ] proclamation ceremony in Auckland. These fine illustrations, taken from special pbotoI graphs, show the event in a manner so comI pldte and comprehensive that those who were not present can have an actual copy of what took place. The ceremony of proclaiming Edward VII. King was an event the like of which Aucklanders are not likely to see again, and it must be a pleasure to them to learn that it been graphically depicted, and permanently preserved, in the form of Weekly News illustrations. Memorable scenes in Queen. Victoria's life, Royal groups, Royal residences, are given, making a pictorial history which is particularly valuable at this time. An emblematical picture by the Weekly' News' special artist, showing the British Empire in mourning for the great and good Queen, makes an attractive frontispiece. A splendid picture of the Auckland section of the Sixth New Zealand Contingent; the gallant charge of the New Zealanders at Rhenoster Kop ; portraits of General Knox, who is chasing De Wet, are also among the illustrations which add to the attractiveness of the present issue of the Weekly News. The letterpress is interesting and up-to-date, containing much new matter relating to Queen Victoria and King Edward VTL, besides the usual abundance of high-class literary matter, and . the widely varied general news columns. Owing to the close observance of a holiday throughout the < Herald works on Saturday, on account of the Queen's funeral, it will be necessary for those of the public who wish to secure copies of this issue of the Weekly News to do so either to-day or to-morrow.
