London, January 28. j The Kaiser delightedly informed J Lord Salisbury and Lord Roberts of the Marshalship conferred on him by King Edward. Lord Salisbury replied that-the appointment afforded the nation the liveliest gratification. Lord Roberts s.aid the army was highly honoured. The Duke of Connaught handed the Kaiser the Marshal's sword. King Edward conferred on the Kaiser the Order of the Garter in diamonds. The King also confers the Order of the Garter on the German Crown Prince. King Edward and the Duke 01 Connaught visited the Kaiser aboard the Hohenzollern on Sunday j in honour of his birthday. \ London, January 29. I The King at Osborne, with much j ceremony, invested the Crown Prince of Prussia with the Order of the Garter.
