QUESTION OF LIGHT RAILWAYS
[MY TELEGRAPH". —own CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Wednesday. Mr. Back, general manager of Tasmanian railways, who arrived in Wellington yesterday, to take his seat upon the Midland Railway Commission, lias had some considerable experience in the working of light railways, and is well qualified to advise as to the utility of the system. It is the intention of the Minister for Public Works to ask Mr. Back, before lie leaves the colony, to go over the several suggested light railWay routes, and particularly those connecting Tarwaki with the Central Trunk railWay, and to furnish the Government with a report on the subject.
