THE IMPERIAL TROOPS.
. TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—Wellington's idea of the Imperial troops being guests of the Government strikes me a3 making their entertainment cold:and ordinary. It would be , such an honour for us private people to be allowed to entertain them. As their visit to Auckland falls on Sunday, public demonstration is /impossible. Therefore, I wish to suggest that there bo a church parade, the men being marched from the ship to the : Cricket Ground ■: for service in the open air; that a luncheon 'be provided by the ; committee, etc. ; ;l Then arrangements should be made for driving officers and troops privately and publicly to places of.-: vantage, and from then leave; them in the hands of their entertainers, who will, I am sure, treat them right royally.—l tyo - jtc, A Patriot. ; ;
