THE DAY OF NATIONAL MOURNING— A SUGGESTION.
| . TO THE KOITOII. 1 Sir,—On the day our beloved Queen is 1 buried, and when in. the words of the Maori lamentation we have said, "Farewell to I Queen Victoria.," I desire to .suggest that as a many children as desire to do so should | place«a wreath or floral emblem on the I Queen's statue in Albert Park. It could, I jj think, be easily arranged. At the two gates ij at Princes-street the girls could meet at one, l and the boys at the other, in charge of a I committee of ladies and gentlemen. They I could pass through in twos, leave their 1 token of love and respect and make their I exit at the Wellesley-strect entrance. This 1 would avoid a crush in the park, and pre- | vent any possible 'lamage. I feel sure the I children would bo very glad of such an op- | portunity. I beg to commend the suggestion a to those in charge of the arrangements.—l 5 am, etc., Ralph Potter. a Auckland, January 26, 1901.
