A SHOCKING AFFAIR.
, [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] I) unedin, Monday. A horrible outrage on a child, aged three years and a-half, was perpetrated at St.. Clair late on Saturday evening. Samuel Flaherty, aged 25,. it is alleged, lured the , child among the sand hills, and brutally > mutilated her. One Coxon " caught Flaherty, and took him to the station, The child is in a critical condition. Flaherty was brought before the magistrate this morning, and remanded till Friday. He was hooted and groaned at by a large crowd, and after proceedings the ponce took him away privately. ■ He maintains - silence and affects insanity. This is the second case of its kind within two months. . Press and police kept the former case quiet, hoping to find the man, but without success.
