THE MAR ABO A. The Union Company's steamer Mararoa. Captain Edwin Phillips, arrived from Sydney yesterday afternoon, bringing: a large number of passengers in both classes, and a considerable amount. of :i generall cargo. V ery rough weather was met with during the passage, notwithstanding which the steamer made very good time across. . Sadler, the purser, to whom we' are indebted for our files, reports:—lho ■ Mararoa left the Company s wharf, Margaretstreet, Sydney, at 3 p.m., arid passed through Port Jackson Heads at 3.30 p.m. on 23rd inst., • breasted the Three Kings at 9.20 p.m. on the 26th, and arrived at 4 p.m. yesterday Experienced strong southerly winds, with high seas and overcast weather, to the ortli Cape; thence fine weather down the coast. _ The ' Mararoa leaves for East- Coast and Southern ports at 2 p.m. to-morrow. ■ —— — ■ ■- THE TALUNE. The Union Company's steamer Talune, Cap--1 tain R. E. Smith, arrived from Southern and East Coast ports yesterday morning after a good run -up from Gisborne. Mr. E. Mulqueen, the purser, reports that the steamer ' left Duhedin on the 22nd inst., and called at Lvttelton, Wellington, Napier, and Gisborne, leaving the latter port at 11 a.m. on the 26th, and arriving at 10 a.m. yesterday. The Ta-1 luno leaves the Queen-street Wharf for Sydney at 5.30 p.m. to-day. THE HAWEA. j The Union Company's steamer Hav/ea, Captain J. Abram, arrived from the South on j Saturday afternoon, bringihg a large cargo, of grain and produce. Mr. A. S. McKenzie, the parser, reports that the steamer left the Bluff at 4 p.m. on the ISth inst., and called at Oamaru, Timarn, and Wellington. Left the latter port at 10.10 a.m. on the 24th. was; | abreast of East Cape Island at 6.10 p.m. on I the 25th, and arrived at 4 p.m. on the 26th. The iron paddle steamer Awarua. which has been purchased by the Devonport Steam f Ferry Company, to be utilised as a tugboat. > at this port, arrived from the Bluff on Satur- f j day morning, undei the charge of Captain | ' James .Lewis. The Awarna was built at £ j Blackwall, England, in 1834, to the order of i | the Bluff Harbour Board, and was specially jj | constructed for towing purposes, no expense | ! being spared to have everything out her 8 as up-to-date as possible. During the time I she has been at the Bluff the steamer has fj j been well taken care of, and is in fine order. jj The steamer has good steaming power, and g I will no doubt prove an acquisition to the t company's fleet. Of the passage up from the | Bluff the master reports that he left early C on the morning of the 20th inst., and met with strong head winds and seas all the way. jj arriving in harbour early on Saturday morn- £ ing.
