Johnson. . . .- THE PENNANT COMPETITIONS. , . The third and fourth rounds in the pen- . nant match were played on the Auckland Bowling Green, Grafton Road, on Saturday last. The weather, though threatening in the forenoon, cleared, and the players were favoured with sunshine throughout the afternoon. There was a large attendance '• of bowlers and their friends. /Mrs, A. W. Thomson, the two Misses Thomson, and Mrs.r Oarlow very kindly presided over afternoon tea. The green was in its usual excellent'.. condition, and some very close play resulted. At the end of the 14th head, in. the third round, the extraordinary score was placed on the blackboard of three ties, Ponsonby v. Auckland and Newmarket v.
