Melbourne, January 15. The kUtorney-General lias furnished Sir Geo. Turner "with a legal opinion that in accepting the Federal Treasurership he had accepted a position of profit -under the Grown. Sir Geo. Turner resigns his seat in the State Assembly to-day. MILITARY REVIEW IN MELBOURNE. Melbourne, January 15. The Government is arranging for a big review of the Imperial troops on their arrival. THE COMMONWEALTH. Melbourne, January 15. Mr. Deakin is engaged in drafting three Bills to provide for an Inter-state Commission, a Federal judiciary, and Federal public service requirements. THE ROYAL VISIT. Melbourne, January 15. Cabinet has appointed a committee to draw up recommendations for the decoration of Melbourne during the Duke of York's visit. Full advantage will be taken of the experience gained in Sydney. SIR WM. LYNE. Sydney, ' January 15. Sir Win. Lyne retires shortly from the State Premiership. He will be succeeded by Mr. See, Mr. Dugald Thomson probably taking the Treasury. THE CAPE CABLE. Sydney, January 15. Mr. Copeland, the Agent-General, has signed the Cape cable agreement in London. DECREASING GOLD YIELD. Sydney, January 15. The New South Wales gold yield for last year shows a falling off of £557,000, compared with the previous year. POSTAL ARRANGEMTNTS. Melbourne, January 15.
Sir J. Forrest approves of the idea that the State post offices should be controlled by each State, under instructions from the Federal Post Office, rather than by direct administration. He says five years must elapse before there can be a postage stamp current throughout Australasia. Why this should be so he fails to make clear.
A BOWLING TEAM TO VISIT ENGLAND.

An Australasian bowling team to visit England is in course of formation, and will leave in April.
