SERIOUS CHARGE AGAINST A MAORI.

The Inspector of Police at Auckland has received information of an inquest held at Miranda, on the body of a Maori woman named Hihikiwi, whose death is alleged to have been caused by her husband, Rawiri. The evidence tendered at the inquest was to the effect that Rawiri knocked the woman's head against a stone on the road, and broke her jaw. Tho jury returned a verdict of " Wilful murder " against Rawiri.
