KRUGER IN HOLLAND.
DEFYING THE GOVERNMENT. London, December 20. Kruger, in defiance of M. Beaufort's wishes, visited Amsterdam, where he received an ovation. He is trying to excite the people against the Government.
BRYAN ROBERTS' CHARGES. London, December 19. Mr. St. John Brodrick, Secretary for War, cabled the substance of the charges brought by Mr. Bryan Roberts to Lord Kitchener, who replied that Roberts', story was absolutely without foundation. London, December 20. Mr. Bryan Roberts, in a letter to the Times, apologises and regrets naming the Australians, against whom there was no imputation. He 'finds that the Imperial Yeoman's letter which he quoted, alluded to South African colonials, not Australians. The Times stigmatises his action as recklessly careless and blundering in making quotations. INDEPENDENCE OR DEATH. London, December 18. The Boers are wearing a medal engraved with the words : " Independence or death." COMMISSION FOR A NEW ZEALANDER. London, December 19. Sergeant-Majoi Jickell, of Nelson, New Zealand Rough Eiders, has accepted a commission in the Garrison Artillery.
