At a meeting of the Managing Committee of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing As j sociation to-night, voluminous correspond denee was read from the Lyttelton Regatta Committee, the Chrislclntrch Regatta Club, and N. L. Maeßeth, the association's representative in Canterbury, on the subject of the amendments recently made by the committee in the Lyttelton and championship' regatta, programmes. The Southerners, claimed that the local conditions rendered' it impossible for them to eliminate "stump"' races from their programmes. After *mlengthy discussion the committee decided, in' view of the explanation made by the Sou-' therners. to rescind the veto upon " stump" races. With regard to The proposal to row the junior fours at "the championship regatta in clinker boats, the committee agreed to withdraw its opposition, but made a strong recommendation to the Christchurch Regatta Club that junior fours should be rowed in " best-and-best" boats. In face of rule 19 the committee adhered to its previous decision to strike out ot the Lyttelton programme the condition that the first-prize money would not be • paid unless two or more boats from different clubs competed, A letter signed by five Otaeo clubs was received, asking that a special general meeting of the association be held at Christchurch on December 31 to consider a proposal to amend the constitution of the association in the direction of providing for local government with a central council. It was decided to convene a special meeting to Bo held at Wellington on February 1, and to inform the Gtago clubs that under the rules sufficient notice had not been given to convene a meeting for December 31, and further, that legal opinion had been obtained that under rule ♦ all general meetings of tho association must be held at Wellington. Christchurch, Monday. AL a meeting of the Lyttelton Regatta Committee the alterations made in the programme by the Rowing Association were considered.
