WOOL SALES.
The first wool sale of the season, under the auspices of the Auckland Woolbrokers' Association, will be held at> the exchange rooms (Central Mission Hall), Albert-street, to-day, commencing at nine a.m. sharp. The firms represented will be the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (1710 bales, Mr. H. 0. Nolan, auctioneer), Messrs. G. W. Binney and Sons (626 bales, Mr. Kingswell, auctioneer), and Messrs. Alfred Buckland and Sons (1149 bales, Mr. Seagar Buckland, auctioneer), who will sell in the order named. The weather having been rather wet during the past few days, there has been some difficulty in getting the wool in, but as the sale is a week behind that of last year, there will be an increase in the quantity brought forward, there being a total 0f'3485 bales, as against 3105 bales. The make up is much the same as in previous years, and the wool on the whole is light in grease. Since last season there has been a large falling away in prices all round, in the Home market, and as a cousequence of the state of the markets it is expected that prices will rule much lower to-day than was the case last year.
