AUCKLAND AGRICULTURAL ASSOCIATION.

A MEETING of the Show and Finance Committee of the Auckland Agricultural Association was held in the association room. Queenstreet, yesterday afternoon, Mr. J. 6. Rutherford (president) occupying the chair.

New Zealand Flock Book: The secretary of the New Zealand Sheepbrecders' Association wrote, asking the. Agricultural Association to appoint two gentlemen as an Inspection Committee, so that the Sheep-breeders' Association might obtain full information for the New Zealand Flock Book, previous to the first week in January. Messrs. Udy and Shepherd wore appointed. New Members: The following were elected members of the association : Messrs. W. Abbott, A. B. Blaikie. J. S. Dickson, Percy S. Frost, L. Marshall, J. B. Williamson, P. Bowers, "W. A. Burgess, J. T. Gill, C. Norgrove, J. Rhodes, G. A. Hurd-Wood, 1. C. Williams, J. E. Knight, C. A. J> Fletcher, C. E. McMillan. J. Mcßae, A. L. SButer, C. Woolcy, H. P. Noton, and H. SmaJes. Donations: Letters were received from a largo number of members and supporters of the association, offering to donate subscriptions and prize moneys to enable the committee to meet the deficit caused by the inclement weather on the second day of the show. The secretary was instructed to write, thanking these members, and to insert their names in next year's catalogue as donors to the association.

Protests: The committee dealt with a number of protests against awards made at the recent show. Bert Rao protested against the first prize for the best boy rider under 15 years being awarded to W. Jenkins. The secretary was instructed to make inquiries from the registrar of births. A protest by Miss Christian in the class for plum cakes was disallowed, as the protest had not heen made in accordance with the rules of the association. Mr. A. W. Currio ivrote, asking for an alteration in connection with the regulations at present existing for the competition for the best baker's turn-out. The letter was referred to the Revision Committee for no\t year's show. Costley Home Inmates: The secretary of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board wrote thanking the association for their gift of butter, etc., exhibited at the show, and for allowing the inmates of the Costley Home admission on the first day of the show. The letter was received.

Bone-cutters: Attention was drawn bv Messrs. J. dare and Co. to the fact that 20 per cent, duty was charged on imported bonecutters. The secretary was instructed to write to the Agricultural Department, Wellington, urging that these cutters might be entered under *.ho heading of agricultural implements. Shipping of Cattle at Auckland Wharf: Mr. G. L. Peacocke drew attention to die great necessity existing at Auckland of having proper means for the landing and shipping of cattle. It was decided that .the secretary should write to the Auckland Harbour Board, pointing out the great necessity for better accommodation for this purpose. Vote of Condolence: On the motion of Mr. A. H. Grainger, the secretary was instructed to convey to the family of the late Mr. W. Hellaby a sincere expression of the deep regret which the members of the association felt for the family in theii sad bereavement.
