GAZETTE NOTICES.
[by telegraph.—press association.] Wellington, Thursday. The appointment of Mr. F. R. Flatman as a member of the Otago and Southland Rivers Commission is gazetted.
Major R. H. Owen is gazetted commandant of the Military School of Instruction for the New Zealand defence forces.
The resignations are gazetted of Colonel F. J. Fox, New Zealand Militia, and Sur-geon-Captain P. W. Hishop, volunteer medical staff. The services of the following corps hava been accepted : —Whangarei Rifles, Rotorja Rifles, Kawakawa Rifles, Otamatea Mounted Rifles, Donniston Rifles, Tauranga Mounted Rifles, Waiuku Mounted Rifles, Waihi Rifles, Raglan Mounted Rifles, Hokionga Mounted Rifles, and Mangonui Mounted Rifles, the acceptances all dating from September 10.
Letters of naturalisation have been issued to 13 persons residing in the colony during the week.
The Inspection of Machinery Act Amendment Act of last session is being brought into force and regulations for examinations for engine-drivers' certificates are gazetted. The following Government holidays are to be observed at Christmas and New Year: Monday, December 24 ; Tuesday, 25th ; Wednesday, 26th ; and Monday, 31st ; and Tuesday, January 1.
