The Union Company's steamer Te Anau. Captain Norman Beaumont, arrived from Southern and East Coast ports yesterday morning, berthing at Ouay-street Jettv No. 2. The steamer brought a number of passengers and a considerable quantity of general cargo. Of the passage. Mr. H. V. Austen, the purser, reports that the Te Anau left Dunedin on the 23rd inst. at 4 p.m., and called at Lvttelton. Wellington Napier, and Gisborne. discharging and loading cargo at each port. Left Gisborne at 10.50 a.m. on the 28th. and arrived at 11.30 a.m. yesterday. Light variable winds prevailed to Wellington: thence light to moderate north-west to south-west winds, smooth sea«, and fine weather to arrival. The steamer Tomoana. of the Tyser line, arrived from London, Melbourne, and Sydney resterday afternoon, and anchored Delow the railway wharf for inspection by the health officer, afterwards berthing at the -street Wharf. The steamer, wtucß is still under the command of Captain trisnwick, brings a large quantity of general cargo for Auckland, consisting of nearly »000 tons, the discharge of which will be commenced this morning, and on completion the steamer win take in consignments of wool, kauri gum, etc., for London, proceeding South to complete her discharge, and loading. Captain Fishwick, who brings his fine steamer into port in splendid order, reports:—The Tomoa^na left the Royal Albert Dock. London, a. 6 p.m. on September 16, and Proceeded to Holehaven to take in explosives. Was detained in the river by heavy fogs, and landed the pilot at Dover at 8 p.m. on the 18th. Fine weather was experienced to Las Palmas, which.'fareached on the 25th, and after taking in a supply of bunker coal, resumed the voyage the same date. Until passing the Cape of Good Hope, on October 15, the same conditions of weather prevailed, but after rounding the Cape a heavy gale, with mounuinouseas, was encountered, followed by moderately rough weather all the way across the Southern Ocean, and until arrival at Melbourne at 6 p.m. on the sth inst. After landing consignments, proceeded on to bj aney on the 10th, and reached Port Jackson oh the 12th. and after putting out further consignments, resumed the voyage to Auckland at 10 a.m. on Saturday last, and met with exceedingly fine weather and very smooth seas all the way across. Cape Maria van Diemea was passed at 7.50 p.m. on Wednesday. Cape Brett at 5 a.m. yesterday, and the harbour made at 4 p.m., fine weather prevailing on the trip down the coast. Associated with Captain Fishwiok are the following deck officers:— Mr. F. Lidstone (late Hawke's Bay); second, Mr. I. Drake; third, Mr. H. Kemp: fourth, Mr. J. Sowden. Mr. Gimblett is still in charge of the engine deuartment and has with him Messrs. Chappel Rose' Mock, and Sadler, Messrs. Gibson and Walton being the refrigerating engineers Mr. Arthur H. Nathan is the local agent for the Tomoana. THE MATATSk 1 - The Shaw, SaviU, and Aiuion Gompanys steamer Matatua arrived from London ana Hobart yesterday morning, , and having explosives on board, anchored at the Powder Ground, where she-was visited by the health officer, and granted pratique, and the wort of discharging proceeded with, and continued throughout the day. The work is' expected to be completed in time to allow the steamer to come up to the wharf and berth aoout eleven o'clock thi3 morning. The 11iatatua, which is now under the command of Captain BurviU-Holmes, has not visited Auckland for some years past, her voyages having .he # n from London to Southern ports. -Associated with Captain Holmes are the following officers:— Mr. P. O. Griffiths, R.N.8.. second, Mr. R. S. Cross: third, Mr H. C. Arlington; fourth. Mr. \Velhst. Mr. A. Mc Intyre is in charge of the engine department, and has with him Messrs. S. McNeil. T. Of the voyage, the second officer reports:—The Matatua left London at 8 p.m. on October 2. and called at Holehaven to take in explosives. On the gale moderating, fine weathoi prevailed until reaching Hobart at 7.30 a.m. on the' Resumed the voyage at 4 a.m. on the -jrd. and met with moderate winds and fine weather across the Ta-sman Sea. 1 Cane Maria Van Diemen at 0.15 a.m. on tne Cape Brett at 2 p.m. the same date anchoring off Tiritiri at 11 p.m., and coming into port at daylight yesterday. Messrs. T. and S. Morrin (Limited) are the lochia gents for the steamer, which proceeds South next week. THE ALDEBARAN. The barque Aldebaran came out of AucKland Dock yesterday morning, after general overhaul, and berthed at the Breastwork near the Harbour Board offices.
