THE TAKAPUNA JOCKEY CLUB.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—ln youif issue of tho 24th inst. I observe that the above club arranged that one dividend should be paid out on the two totalisators, but have seemed to alter this to the original position, that of paying the dividends from two totalisators, being separate dividends, for the reason that the '' lay of the land" made it inexpedient. Now, sir, I fail to see this, and it is not fair or just to the working portion of the sporting public, as many of this class, who regularly attend the meetings, cannot afford to pay the necessary fee to the saddling paddock, thus being prevented from putting any money on the inside machine, consequently they have no hope of getting a dividend from the inside machine. On tho other hand, those in -the above paddock can come out and put their money on the outside machine. This I (as well as many I have spoken to) consider very unjust and "unfair. Although this is supposed to be " sport for kings," there should be no partiality, and the working population should be considered, as well as those who, through having more motley, are considered to hold a higher position. Whatever Government Minister has tho granting- of permits to clubs, should seo that none should receive such unless on the principle of having and paying ono dividend from the two or more totalisators—l am, etc., True SroBT.
