AUCKLAND WEEKLY NEWS.
SPECIALLY INTERESTING NUMBER. HANDSOME ILLUSTRATIONS. AUCKLAND AGRICULTURAL SHOW. ' ; PRIZE STOCK AND EXHIBITS STRIKING PICTURES MELBOURNE CUP RACE. WHANGAREI SHOW AND MILITARY SPORTS. AUCKLAND FRUITGROWERS' CONFERENCE. WAIKATO BOWLING AND POLO. This issue of the Auckland Weekly News is a most varied and attractive number. The illustrations are numerous and highclass, embracing nearly every subject of general importance. •* The Auckland agricultural show is one of the main features. The leading exhibits of stock, including nearly all the prize and champion animals, together with displays of implements and machinery, are given, as well as scenes depicting the main events of the two days. Three characteristic scenes of the greatest racing event of the colonies —the Melbourne Cup race—are given. One shows the immense concourse of people at Flemington, another the finish of the Cup race, and another the victorious racer, Clean Sweep. The agricultural show and military sports at Whangarei provide some excellent illustrations, as do polo and bowling in the Waikato. Among a number of miscellaneous illustrations are several groups of children connected with St. Benedict's Church, portraits of Admiral Macdonald, who, in the earliest days of New Zealand history played such an important part in the defence of Kororareka; the members of the Auckland Fruitgrowers' Unions' Conference, and several others, all of great interest to the public. The piesent number is not only valuable as recording many important events, but as a means of advertising Now Zealand. vThe letterpress is of a most varied and interesting character, and the publication is one that will be welcomed everywhere. The Weekly News is now on issue, and can be obtained from all agents and runners.
