ATHLETIC NOTES.

PRINCE "ALBERT, COLLEGE SPORTS. Although very little rain fell during yesterday afternoon, the weather was anything but favourable 'for the holding of the annual athletic sports in connection with the boys* side of the Prince Albert College, the grass being wet under foot, and the sky overcast and threatening. This, of course, militated against the attendance of parents and friends of the scholars, and left the racing track in a sloppy and holding condition that prevented fast times being recorded, but despite drawbacks there were quite a number of onlookers, and the competitions passed off satisfactorily, and to the evident enjoyment of the scholars. During the course of the afternoon tea and light refreshments were handed round by the young ladies, and a pleasing musical programme was provided by Hunter's Artillery Band. Quite the hero of the meeting was D. Rosewarne, who carried off the principal championships on the flat, and also ran prominently in the handicap events, while in the bicycle championship L. Rcwe proved to be the winner. Other races that excited more than usual interest were the students' championship, won by C. Eaton, and the Old Boys' Handicap, won by W. O. Carlaw off 4yds in 10 3-ss. In the latter event A. Watson, on the scratch mark, was credited with running the 100 yds in 10 4-55., which, if correct, must be considered very creditable time on a soft and holding track. The sports were really well conducted, and among those who contributed to the success of the gathering are the following gentlemen: President, Mr. T. Jackson, M.A.; judges, Mesrs. T. Buddie, B. H. Lowe, A. R. Cump, W. P. Winstone, the Rev. H. R. Dewsbury. and Dr. Knight; timekeepers, Messrs. G. Reid and H. Smith; referee, Sir. T. R. Southall; starter, Professor Carrollo; call steward, Mr. E.
