Waimate, Wednesday. . The Times office was burned down shortly after four o'clock this morning. Nothing was saved. Tho business was leased by Mr. Smith, who had no insurance on bis stock. He estimates his loss at £150. The building and plant were insured, but the amounts are unknown here. Incendiarism is suspected, a suspicious fire having occurred in the office three weeks ago. Timaru, Wednesday. Mr. R. G. Ferguson, manager of the Geraldino branch of the Farmers' Association Stores, was committed for trial on a charge of embezzling £247 in May and June last. Other sums were mentioned. Bail, two sureties of £150 each, was allowed.
