New Zealand Herald Office, | Wednesday evening, MESSRS. Samuel Coohbakb and SON sold by auction to-day a property in the Parish of Pupuke, consisting of 40 acres 16 perches, all kauri bush, estimated to contain 700,000 ft of standing green timber, for £100. A property close to the Swanson railway station, containing 80 acres, fenced and improved, with stable and othei buildings, realised £240. Four acres at Pokeno, with a cottage, brought £30. A oottago and allotment at Epsom brought £210. Messrs. Baker Bros, to-day offered by auction a property near Waima station, on the Kaihu railway, containinj, 600 acres, and it was bought in by the mortgagee. KAURI GUM MARKET', The following are our quotations of kauri gum for the week ending July 21, 1900: — White gum: Poor ordinary, £28 to £30; good ordinary, unpicked, £52 and upwards; superior ordinary, £76 and .upwards ; East Coast (good quality), £76 and upwards; rescraped, £120 and upwards. Black gum: Nuts, £10 and upwards; mixed, £20 and upwards; good, £50 and upwards. Remarks on market: Arrivals for 24 days of July, 715 tons. The market is fairly firm for superior lots of either ordinary or dark, but low kinds aro still exceedingly dull.

DUNEDIN GRAIN MARKETS. [BY TKLEGItArn.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Dtoedin, Wednesday. Wheat: Primo milling is in fair demand, and can be readily placed at late rate,?, hut medium is neglected. There is not much busmen doing, as growers are holding. Prime velvet and Tuscan, 2s 6d to 2s 8<1; medium to good, 2s 3d to 2s sd; fowl feed, 2s to 2s Id, hags in. , ~,.,, Oats: There is good demand for bright feed sorts for shipment, in consequent of orders from Australia, and prices have advanced Id per bushel since last week. Prime milling. Is 8d to Is 9d; good to best feed, Is 7d to Is Btl ; inforioi to medium, Is 3d to Is bid, bass extra, Ba'riev: Primo malting is In good request, but medium and inferior are virtually unsalable. Prime Cape, 3s to 33 3d; malting, 2s 3d to 2s 9d; milling, Is 8d to Is 10d; feed, Is Cd to Is Bd, bags extra.
ALDINGTON STOCK SALES. CirßisrcHUßcn, Wednesday. The. entries at Addington were: 3113 fat sheep, 209 fat Jambs. 2000 store sheep, 356 cattle, 605 pigs. , , Pat Cattle: Tho 177 head of fat cattle included a numbei of light-weight steers, but the heifers and cows were mostly good sorts. Bidding was keen for anything prime, and for this class s, rise ol 53 pel head was experienced, other classes selling at late rates. Ten North Island bullocks, £1 7s 7d to £9 2s 6d; local steers, £5 17s Cd to £7 10s; heifers, £4 10s to £7 53; cows. £4 17? 6d to £7 103; extra good one, £9155. Store and Dairy Cattle: There were small and mixed yardlngs of storo ami dairy cattle, and not much business done. Two and a-half year cattle brought £3 17i 6d; two-year. £2 78 6(1; 13-months, £1 16s; yearlings, £1 2s to £1 4s j dry cows, £1 7s 6d to £2 153; dairy cows, £3 to £7. Fat Sheen: The yarding of fat sheep was mostly light-weight wethers, and my few prime ewes. Freezing buyors were purchasing only when they could get lines cheap, but butchers' sheep were very firm, in consequence ot a short supply- Heavy wethers, to 22a; heavy freezers, 19s to 203: lighter, 16s M 18s 6d: maiden ewes, 163 6d to IBs 6d; prime heavy ewes, 18s to 203 6d; good do., ftr to 17s 6d; others, 143 to 15s 6d; merino wethers, 16s Id to 17s 6d. Fat Lambs: The competition for fat lambs was mostly in the hand? of the local trade, only a few extra-good being taken foi export. Prices ranged from lie to 14s, and up to 15s Id foi extra-good store sheep. A row small lines of wethers changed hands at 133 4d to 152 Id: wethers and maiden ewes, 14s Id; 906 North Island ewes withdrawn at 12s 9d: good young ewes sold at 14s 6d to 163 lid; a few hoggets, lis 6d. .Pigs: Tho fat pigs forward were either too large or too small for the bacon trade, and tho sale was somewhat irregular. Average baconcrs, 32s to 32s 6d, equal to 3d to 3}d lb; porkers sold well, 229 6d to 31s, equal to l\i to 3Jd, There was a bettoi demand for stores at 123 to 18s; and suckers and weaners sold at from 6s to 10s 6d.
