UNIVERSITY COLLEGE COUNCIL.

Tnß ordinary meeting of the Auckland University College Council was held at the University yesterday afternoon, His Lordship the Primate in the chair. There were also present : The Hon. J. A. Tole, Dr. Maclaurin, the Rev. W. J. Williams, Mr. T. U. Wells, M.A. Cases for Specimens : Professor Thomas attended and informed the Council that a number of new specimens were coming forward, and that no cases were available for their protection in the Museum. A sum sufficient for the necessary glass cases was granted. Donations! A number of valuable works, contributed to the University Library by the Students' Christian Union and others, were acknowledged with thanks. Endowments : An offer from Mr. Shanks to lease a block of 354 acres-portion of the Council's endowment—at a rental of £2 10s for a terra of 21 years, was declined. Finance : Accounts amounting to £543 9s 3d were passed for payment.
