At the auctions on Thursday, I learn from Messrs. Figgis, the demand for kauri gum was extremely slow, and that only about 10 per cent, of the quantity offered found buyers. Most of this small proportion sold consisted of the better class of gum, and showed no chango in values. In all, some 28Q0 cases were offered, and 350 were sold. The assortment consisted of one ?ase of dial, 80 eases of re-scraped, 8C cases of threequarter-scraped, 519 cases of half-scraped, 130 cases cf pickings, 130 case 3 of bush, 860 coses of dark brown, 52C cases of chips, and 670 packages of dust and sittings. The following is the result of the sale, the prices of course being furnished to me by Messrs. Figgis :-Tflo solitary case of dial realised £14 12s 6d; 26 cases of re-scraped sold at £7 7s 6d to £8 12s Gel; 10 cases of threcquarter-scraped brought £6 ss; 10 cases of half-scraped and sorts went tor £4; 50 cases of pickings were cleared at £1 7s 6d to £2 2s; 50 cases of chips found purchasers at prices ranging from 18s to £4 as; 80 packages of dust and siftings were sold, common to good, from 5s to £1 13s; 40 cases of bush were sold, fair to fine-scraped, from £3 7s to £7 17s 6d; pickings, £1 7s to £1 10s ; 80 cases of dark-brown went for £1 16s to £5 12s M.
