HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.
The usual fortnightly meeting of the Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held at the hospital yesterday afternoon, when there were present: Messrs. A. Bruce (chairman), Pinky Wilson', A. P. Friend, ; J* Jamieson, J. E. Taylor, Y. Warren, and J. Tudohope. ' ' '""'
Leave of Absence: Dr. J. 0. Pabst, one of tha medical advisers of the Board, was granted leave of absence for six weeks, while Mr. J. Bollard, M.H.R., was unanimously granted leave of absence from the Board's meetings during the period of his Parliamentary duties. Use of Boardroom: Mr. H. A?. Brabant, 8.M., wrote thanking tho Board for use of their High-street boardroom during the alterations to the Police Court. The letter was received.
Telephone Communication: The Finance Committee recommended that the Telegraph Department be requested to erect five additional extension telephones, as stated in their letter of July 13, at a first cost to the Board of about £24 10s, and an annual rental of £5, provided that inter-communication between tho several buildings was duly secured, and that'tho arrangement with Mr. Creshor be terminated. Mr. Friend explained that tho Government's offer would ensure communication not only botween t(io various words of tho hospital, but between the exchange and any ward that might be required. On the motion of Mr. J. Jamieson, tha committee's recommendation was approved of. Finance: Accounts amounting to £1344 63 lid were passed for payment. Surgical Instruments: It was decided that the list of instruments, etc., submitted by the house Burgeon, and referred to the medical advisor, be approved of, and that any instruments lent should be returned within 14 days. f Plague Hospital: A letter was received loin Dr. Baldwin regarding the admission to tiio plague hospital of plaguo patients and suspected plague patients. After discussion, • '', r ,p, moved tlie following resolution, viz., hat Dr. Baldwin be advised that the hospital authorities have prepared for the accommodation of plague patients, and are quite prepared to admit a case when the medical practitioner attending such caso duly certifies that it is plague, and that no lejpotwiblhly rests on the hospital authorities in the matter as to diagnosis." The resolution was unanimously carried.
