THE PROHIBITION LEAGUE.
ift. ■ The executive of the Prohibition League, held their usual monthly meeting last night, in a classroom in the Wesleyan schoolroom. There was a large attendance. . It was unanimously decided not to admit a large number of members who were in attendance. A requisition was received, asking the executive to call a meeting of members to consider the following business:— 1. To inquire of the members of the leagus executive bow many, if any, of them intend to place themselves in line on the question I of political action in the future, as resolved | upon at the general meeting of members, ! held on the 24th ult., and to take such acI lion in connection therewith as may td j deemed necessary. j 3. To arrange for the regular carrying ou i of a regular open-air propaganda in tho city. 3. To appoint delegates to the Wellington Convention, and any other business which will tend to make the league more useful in Hie future. It was decided to reply as follows:— the executive- believe that the first proposal is based on a misconception, delegates havo been arranged for by the executive as formerly. Respecting the second proposal, the executive deem the rime unfavourable at present to consider it, as the workers decline to 00-cperatc with Mr. Richardson, the executive therefore cannot see their way clear to grant tho request. It was unanimously decided to call a meeting of the members as soon as possible after the return of the delegates from the Wellington Convention, to hear their report, and transact genera,! business. As some of tho former delegates (vcro unable to proceed to Wellington, Mr. R. French wofi urgently requested to repjesont tho league with the delegates previously appointed. The committee then adjourned for a week.
