The Mayor has issued a large number of appeals for donations to tho fund to employers of labour, suburban Mayors, public schools, etc. At Pitt-streot Wcsleyan Church on Sunday night, aftor a sermon by tho Rov. W. J. Williams on "Tho Bitter Cry of India," a collection was taken tip in aid of the Indian famine fund, which realised £31 2s. On Sunday special services wcro held in St. James' Presbyterian Church, Thames, in connection with the Indian famino, when tho Rev. J. Mackenzie preached both morning and overling. The sum of £11 14s Vd was donated during tho day to tho fund, and that amount is to be forwarded to Mr. Geo. Fowlds, M.H.R. , treasurer of tho Church Council.
