OVERWORKED CLERKS.

TO THE rniTOR.

Sir,—l have read with great interest the letters appearing in your columns from correspondents re overworked clcks and small salaries, and must sav they have my full sympathy, being one of thorn myself. I think it would lie, a very wise thing if a number of dorks formed a deputation and called (.n the members of Parliament for Auckland City, asking them to Imng in legislation in their favour, as all other classes of labour have leceived it. I know of a number of cases where clerks do not receive enough to live upon, not in London, but in the small city of Auckland, whore oven-one is expected to receive a living wage. Hoping there will bo an end to tin's thing very shortly, and that employers will have to pay a living wage.— am, etc., LXKSLINQER.

Auckland, May 12, 1900.
