Business in shipping circles has been fairly brisk during the past month, but the quarantine restrictions put upon vessels arriving from ports outside of New Zealand have somewhat interfered with matters. Now, however, that those restrictions have been vory much modified, vossels only having to undergo fumigation, a return 1 to tho normal condition of things in tho shipping world may be looked for. Tho principal arrivals were tho New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Wakanui, from London, Capetown, and Hobart, with general cargo, on April 26, and tho Tysor liner Tomoatia, from London, Melbourne, and Sydney, on tho Ist inst. The former vessel, upon discharge and taking in consignments of wool, kauri . gum, frozen moat, etc., for London, proceeded South to comploto hor discbargo and loading. The Tomoana is now discharging hor cargo, and is expected to got away to the South early next week. The mail steamer Moana arrived from San Francisco, Honolulu, and Apia on the Bth inst., with the usual consignments of Amoricau merchandise, and proceeded on to Sydney the same evening. The Shaw, Savill, and • Albion .Company's steamer Delphic is due from London, Capetown,'! and Hobart about the 26th inst. . The American barque MaryHasbrouck has arrived at Wellington from Now York, and is expected to reach this port shortly to load, kauri gum for Now York.
