NATIONAL COUNCIL OF WOMEN
[by telegraph.—press association.] Dunemn, Thursday. At the National Council of Women's meeting to-day the paper on "Domestic Servants" was discussed, but no resolution was carried. Many of the speakers thought it would be necessary to give technical education to servants. In the evening Miss Sherif Bain read a paper on peace and arbitration, and afterwards the following resolution was carried unanimously : "The National Council of Women of New Zealand deplores the militarism which is extending its ravages' over the world, increasing the burdens of every people, fomenting national and international jealousies, and inciting virulent racial hatreds; The Council considers that . the difficulties between nations are always capable of peaceable settlement if mediatory methods be employed in time, and it strenuously advocates the establishment of a permanent Court of Arbitration, ; which shall adjudgo the claims of. the strongest and weakest States on a basis of equal justice to all." • . •■ ' ' ;
