[FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Cambridge, Wednesday. The ordinary meeting of the Waipa County Council at Ohaupo was attended by Messrs. Jno. Fisher (chairman), Steel, Scott, Finch, O'Connor, Bell, and McKinder. Tho report of tho supervisor of works (Mr. W. H. Mandeno) was read and adopted. On account of a request by W. H. Grant, it was decided to erect a bridge at Pirongia West, at a cost of about £10. H. W. Brown's offer to foil the pines on Ngaroto Road for £1, was accepted. C. J. W. Barton, secretary of the Waikato Hospital Board, wrote requesting payment of £288, being amount allocated to the Waipa County Council for hospital and charitable aid purposes, for tho current financial year. As this amount was an increase of £30 on the last payment, and no particulars wero given, payment was withheld until fuller particulars arc forthcoming. The chairman complained of tho meagre particulars of the finances supplied by tho secretary to the Hospital Board. This, and one or two oilier matters, were left in tho hands of tho Council's representatives on the Board. Dr. Douglas, inspector to the Board of Health, reported one case of diphthcia at Ohaupo. Goo. Slater, Cambridge, appliod foi a slaughtering license. It was stated that t'ho proper mode of procedure was first through tho medium of the press. D. Stubbing, surveyor, wrote that before he commenced the work of surveying tho road to tho To Rapa railway station it would bo advisable to make sure of tho existing grants, and it was resolved to communicato with tho Public Works Department on tho matter. Tho clerk of the Ngaruawahia Town Board wrote two letters, one drawing the Council's attention to a dangerous hole on tho main road, close to the railway bridge, the other asking that tho road from tfio railway crossing on tho Waipa Road to the junction of tho Hamilton Road be widened also, that the sides of the road from Moflitt's place in to tho township be cleared of briars. Tho Council decided not to widen the road, but agreed to have tho briars cleared. J. T. Prince, Pirongia, wrote that it had come under his notice that some poison in Pirongia had applied to the Government for a lease of the section leased to him by the Council. This is one of the Government reserves, over where there is some troublo as to title, and Mr, Princo demanded to know from tho Council what they intended to do in the matter, seeing things had come to such a. pass. Failing a satisfactory reply, ho threatened to engage a solicitor to watch over his interests. Councillors expressed a hope that ' Mr. Prince would not have to suffer injus- ! tice, and the Chairman proposed, "That tho j Auckland Land Board bo written to, asking them to refrain from leasing the land, and 1 if thero were a chance of its being leased, I would they load the land to tho extent of the improvements, at any rote." The Chairman said, with regard to the purchase of a few acres of the Moanavalo estate, for tho purposo of gravel pits, that the manager, Mr. Walker, had offered as much land as tho Council required for £5 per acre. It was decided to get a written agreement to this effect before agreeing to purchase.
