[Br TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Palherston North, Saturday. Gilbert Hansen's nine-roomed residence, on the Rangitikei line, was destroyed by fire last evening. The insurances amount to £375 on the building, and £175 on the furniture. ; ■■ Wellington, Saturday, Mis. Susan Armstrong, a resident in Wellington for 40 years, and mother of Mrs. 11. VBannister, died to-day. . ' ' . CuRiSTCHURCir, Saturday.. At the inquest on Baker, a tram guard, the evidence showed that his foot was badly crushed by the car going over it. There •were signs of lockjaw, and the leg was amputated, but too late to arrest the malady. A verdict of, accidental death, no blame attaching to any one, was returned.
