AUCKLAND WEEKLY NEWS.

SPECIAL WAR NUMBER.

NOW PUBLISHED. PHOTOGRAPHS NEW ZEALAND CONTINGENT IN SOUTH AFRICA. SKETCHES BY OUR SPECIAL ARTIST. LATEST SOUTH AFRICAN PHOTOGRAPHS. VIEWS DEPARTURE SECOND CONTINGENT. PICTURES FROM RECENT NEWTOWN PARK LAMP.

SPLENDID PICTURES OF THE WAR. Tins week's number of the AI'CKIAND Weekly News, now on issue, contains <i splendid series of illustrations dealing with the war, tho two New Zealand contingents, and other subjects of great interest at the present time. Twelve excellent pictures are given relating to the departure of the second New Zealand contingent from Wellington on Saturday last, and to the proceedings in the Newtown Park :amp. Our artist, with the first New Zealand contingent, has sent us five sketches of the New Zealanders in South Africa, and in addition to these, there are a number of large photographs of the New Zealanders arriving and entraining at Capetown. One of these views possesses a melancholy interest, from tho fact that tie late Trooper Council is shown standing right in the foreground. An excellent portrait is reproduced of the late Trooper Connell, and also one of the late Lieutenant Cowie (nephew of the Primate), who fell at Magerefontein. A number of most, interesting photographs relating to general events in connection with the war, received by the last mail from our special correspondents at the front, are included in this attractive issue. The American yacht Noma, which was so gaily decorated for last Saturday's yachting display, makes a handsome picture. Altogether there are 40 striking pictures in this week's issue, including several half-page engravings, and, as the number is cme that is sure to be eagerly sought after, wo would advise our readers tc secure copies promptly. The Nkws is now on sale, and may be obtained of all runners and newsagents.
