DE LISSA, SONS, AND CO.'S KAURI GUM REPORT.

Tick last sales of 1399 took place in London on December 9, when 4053 packages were offered, against, 4566 packages the previous month. Of this quantity only 1900 cases were new arrivals, and over 2000 cases were old lots being reoffered. The market was oxoedingly d".ll, dealers and others not caring to augment their stock at this period of tho year, consequent upon stocktaking; also that the prompt day for payment foil on the 30th nit., a time when most people like a good balance, while tho tightness of money in this market is also a considerable factor. There was a marked absence of good grade-,, in fact seldom have wo seen Mich a small quantity. In the jvhole 4000 cases there \ver« only 250 packages above the grade »f half-scraped. These fine grades fetched rooJ price?, and were even in somo instances higher than the rales last quoted, three-quarter-perapod, or No. 1, being dearer, and realised up to £5 10s for common and £5 17s M for really Rood. All the lower-grades, however, were absolutely neglected, and it was impossible to mako sales except at reductions. Several lots were forced off by brokers under instructions to close accounts for the yeir, and wo ourselves let. go various remnants, in order to close shipments which required only a small lot disposed of in order to finalise them. Therefore, from 5s to 6s lower range was established for tho lowest grades, which, however, need not bo taken as a criterion to subsequent prices, when different conditions may prevail. Still, we desire to repeat the warning previously given that these lower grades should not be shipped here at present unless at much lowor prices, the a.-eumidation being ample for Bomo months to come. The sales resulted in a total of WO packages Iwintj «nld, and 'he range of prices is as follows:—Fine dial, none sold, nominal, £15' good pale reseraped, £8 to £12 sa; pale and amber scraped, £6 10s to £7 10s; pale and amber chopped, €7 5s to £7 10s; fair small to good bold, threequarter scraped, £5 ]0s to £5 17s 6d; good halfscraped, £3 15s to £3 7s 6d; chips, good to fine pale, £3 10s to £4 10s; chips, fair pale, £3 15s to £3 10s; ordinary to fair, rather coated ind dusty. £1 17s 6d to £?, 16«; pickings, fair No. 3. £2 15s to £?. 17s 6d: dust. pale. £1 5s to £2; dust, ordinary, 16; b 19s.
