THE OTAKI SEAT.
Wem.tnt.ton, January 4. TirK Premier addressed the electors of Pahaittanui last night in the interests of Mr. Field, a candidate for tli. Otaki seat. His speech was mainly on the lines of those delivered by him during the election. Spanking of old age pensions, lie said pensions for nine months of the finan-ial year had been paid, and they still had £210,000 to the good. As another instance of the prosperity of the colony, the Premier pointed out that when the income tax wa> first struck they received £68,000. This year the -eveniie from this source would reach £125,000, an increase of 85 per cent. A vote of thanks and one of confidence in the Government were carried unanimously. The election for the Otaki seat rented in the return of Mr. W. N. Field, the deceased's brother, the numbers being : — W. H. Field ... 1J» . C, B.
