THE SEVENTH DIVISION.

London, January 17. The last detachment of the Seventh Division of the Army Corps has sailed for South Africa. A spechl arm , - order was promulgated on December 15, calling out the following reservists or. permanent service: — INFANTRY OF THE LINE. All men of sections A, B, and C transferred from the following regiments:— Norfolk Regiment Lincolnshire Regiment. Cheshire Regiment. South Wales Borderers Kind's Own Scottish Borderers East; Lancashire Regiment Hampshire Regiment Prince oi Wales' North Staffordshire Regiment. Of the above regiments, the 2nd Cheshire, stationed at Limerick, and the 2nd North Staffordshire, stationed at Newry, had already received orders to move to Aidershot for mobilisation, Mnjor-Uoneral Sir Herbert C. Chermside, G.C.M.0., C.8., commanding at the Cnrraeh, hns been unpointed to command the 14th Brigade in the Seventh Division about to be formed. General Ohermside was first British commissioner and afterwards commander of the British troops in Crete. He has also held the post of Governor-General of the Red Sen, Littoral, and saw considerable war service in Egypt. A thousand reservists of the Army Service Corps, and 450 of the Royal Horse and Roval Field \rtillerv were recalled to the colours for service in the Seventh and Eighth Divisions of the South African Field Force,
