Mr. Sidsey Wolf has been appointed examiner in practical music in New Zealand by the London College of Music.

Mr. Acton Adams has been elected chairman of the Christchurch Hospital Board unopposed. Air, B. M. Litchfield, who was recently appointed successor to Mr. J. Kmbling as manager of the Bank of New Zealand at Christchurch, will leave Wellington for his new duties early next month. Mr. J. Embling, manager of the Christchurch branch of the Bank of New Zealand, who has bee.i appointed general manager of the Bank at Wellington, is to be given a hearty send-oft' by the citizens of Christchurch on the 14th inst.

Sergeant-Major Thomas McMillan, of Wanganui, has received from the Imperial Government the silver medal for meritorious service. Sergeant-Major McMillan saw a great deal of service .n New Zealand during the native disturbances, during which time he was a member of the 18th Royal Irish, in which he held the position of colour-sergeant for some time.

A fashionable wedding took place at St. Barnabas' Chapel, Bishopscourt, yesterdav, when Mr. Ernest Brothers Dufaur was united in the bonds of matrimony to Miss Ethel Selby Dixon, daughter of Mr. J. J. Dixon, " Rainshaw,' Mount Albert. The ceremony was performed by the Most Rev. the Bishop of Auckland, Primate of New Zealand, assisted by the Rev. John Patteson Cowie. chaplain to the Bishop. Mr. J. C. Davis acted as best man and Mr, Clement Dixon At groomsman. The bride was given away by her father. She wore a handsome tailor-made gown of grey covert coating, the jacket faced with white satin, veiled with old point. .She also wore the bridegroom's gift—a magnificent necklace of pearls, with pearl and diamond pendant, and a diamond and sapphire ring, and curried a large shower bouquet. Her two sisters attended as bridesmaids, gowned in smart dresses of white-figured Sicilian, with long sashes of buttercup satin, and wore picture hats of black velvet, with white plumes. They also wore the bridegroom's gift of gold muff chains. An assembly of the relatives was held afterwards at Mount Albert.
