Captain Ward, who came to the colony as aide-decamp to Lord Ranfurly, left for the front by the Waiwera on Saturday. At the Grafton Road Weslevan quarterly meeting, the Rev. H. R. Dewsbury received a unanimous invitation for a fifth yeai, and the Rev. J. T. Pinfold for a second year.
Our Tuhikaramoa correspondent writes : -I regret to report the death of Mrs. W. Livingston, wife of our respected fellowettler, which took place early on Sunday horning. The deceased lady had been ailing bd a great sufferer for a long time. The presentation was made on behalf of the men by Mr. J. i van . Our Dairy Flat correspondent writes;— 'A very enjoyable reunion of friers took place at Mr. D. Lockhead's farm or, Frjayevenine. the occasion being the cclel-ation of the 23rd birthday of Mr. James Lockt» a( j eldest son of Mr. D. Lockhead, who i.,ij built up a smiling homestead in this dis trict. There were a goodly number pre-' sent, consisting of friends of the family from surrounding districts, who spent the evening in dancing «nd song, Messrs. Shenton, Frost, and Stoneham contributing vocal items, and Mr. Oarlick a recitation. Messrs. Frost and Stoneham supplied the dance music.
