The Union Company's steamer Upolu lays up on her arrival at Port, Chalmers, and as the Te Anau will not be available to take up the Dunedin to Auckland running the Tarawera will leave in her place, starting from Dunedin on Sunday next. Yesterday the barque Northern Chief sailed from Kaipara for Sydney. THE PUKAKI. The Union Company's steamer Pntti, Captain Lambert, arrived from the South yesterday morning with a cargo of grain and general produce. Mr. E. E. Stock, the purser, reports that the steamer left the Bluff on the 17tb inst., and called at Oamarn and Timaru, leaving the latter port at 9.30 p.m. on the 19th inst.; rounded the East Cape at 11.30 a.m. on the 22nd, and arrived at 1.45 p.m. yesterday. Fresh north-west to southwest winds and high seas prevailed to Cape Kidnappers; thence variable winds, fine weather, and smooth seas to arrival, The Pukaki leaves for the South on Friday. A NEW AUXILIARY KETCH. A very handsome-looking little craft arrived from Whangaroa yesterday in the auxiliary ketch Ofa, which has just been built at the yards of Messrs. Lane and „ Brown, Whangaroa. to the order of Messrs. Vines, Utting. and Perston, of this city, and -is intended to trade between the islands of 1 the Friendly Group, collecting copra for transhipment to the larger vessels. The Ofa ■ is built- on the diagonal principle, with three skins, the timber used being the best heart of kauri. She is copper-fastened throughout, and is coppered up to the waterline. Painted white, with a red ribbon round the hull, the Ofa has a very trim ;and. neat appearance, * and waa generally admired ae she lay along-

side of the Queen-street Wharf yesterday, She is fitted with a 30 horse-power Hercules oil engine, which, under favourable conditions of weather, will give her a speed of seven knots, whilst under sail alone she can .travel fairly fast. On the run down from Whangaroa the little craft acquitted herself very creditably, the engines working well throughout. The Ofa leaves for the Friendly Islands about Saturday next, and will no doubt prove herself well fitted for the trade in which she is to be employed. THE MOANA. The Union 1 Company's mail steamer Moana, which left this port on the 2nd inst., arrived at San Francisco on Friday last, contract date. THE STANLEY. The brigantine Stanley, which was wrecked on Red Mercury Island on September 30, has been refloated, having been towed bff the rocks by tho steamers Muritai and Akaroa, and is now being towed to Auckland by the Akaroa and Waitcti. The Stanley and her cargo of timber were purchased by Messrs. Parker, Lamb, and Co.. of Auckland The vessel is very badly damaged, the bottom being clean out of her, and she is only kept afloat by the cargo of timber. The Pukaki passed the Akaroa and AVaitoa with the Stanley in tow off Kennedy's Bay yesterday, and they are expected to arrive to-day. PORT OF ONEHUNGA. ARRIVALS.
