.THE REFUGEES FROM the TRANSVAAL. WOUNDED SOLDIERS AND SAILORS. ACTION OF THE PRINCESS, OF WALES. ' THE AFRIKANDERS AND THE BOERS. London, October 13, The fund opened at the Mansion House by the Lord Mayor, in aid of British refugees from the Transvaal, who are in a state of destitution, already amounts to £25,000. London, October 13. The Princess of Wales is appealing for aid for the relations of soldiers and sailors who may be killed or wounded in the Transvaal war. Capetown, October 13. Mr. Hofmeyr, and the other leaders of the Afrikander Bond, have issued an appeal for subscriptions in aid of the Boer wounded, and Boer women, who may be left widows by the war. THE BOER ULTIMATUM. Capetown, October 13. Intense indignation has been caused throughout the colony by the arrogant tone of the Boer ultimatum. THE OPPOSITION AND THE GOVERNMENT. London, October 12. Mr, Asquith, M.P. for East Fife, who was Home Secretary in the last Liberal Administration, in a speech on the South African war, strongly advocated all political parties to show an unbroken front in supporting the Government in the present critical juncture of affairs. MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS. Capetown, October 13. Eight hundred Kaffirs, from the mines on the Rand, have arrived at Delagoa Bay, ana will be sent by steamer to Limpopo. A naval contingent from the warships will co-operate with General Buller's force. The military authorities are of opinion that the Boers will run short of provisions at an early date. The Boers have seized 25,0000z of gold in transit from the mines, and confiscated a further sum of half a million in gold at Johannesburg.
