THE GAIETY COMPANY.

The fact that several new performers, specially engaged from Sydney by Mr. P. R. Dix, mado their first appearance at the City Hall last night, attracted one of the largest audiences that has yet assembled to witness the performance of the talented Gaiety Company. In the first part of the programme the nretty serial garden party scene, the efforts of Miss Miriam Lewis (who was loudly encored for her artistic singing of "Killorney 1 ) Messrs v Will and Fred. Leslie, Johnny Collins, Karl Browne, elicited rounds of applause, while Mr. J. E. Shepherd scored » distinct success in the yodelling solo, Cuckoo Song." In the second portion, tho special attractions, the Keziah Sisters (3), and Mr. Manuel Woodson appeared, and created quite a sensation. Mr. Woodson, who is described as the silver streak of perpetual motion," astounded the audience with Bis marvellous contortion act, his feats b,* ! nothing short of remarkable. It is questionable whether any athletic and contortion artist who has yot appeared in Auckland is sunorior in this particular line. The Keziah Sisters, who, with Mr. Woodson, proved a great draw when annearing with Mr. Rickards' Tivoli Company at Sydney, gave a remarkably clover performance on the silver ladder, and proved themselves ft trio of finished acrobatio artists. They were applauded again and again, and with these additions, the Gaiety Comnany may truthfully be classed as one of the Best variety combinations that have yet appeared in Auckland. The clever musical act of the Leslie Brothers, the operatic selections of Miss Lewis and Mr. J. E. Shepherd (who appeared in charming duo scenes from "La Fille De Madame Angot"), the terpsichorean specialties of Mr. Fred. Leslie, jun., and the comicalities of Collins and Browne, make up a splendid programme. The Gaiety Company is sure to draw large audiences for weeks to come. . . _____
