[BY TELEGRAPH.—MESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington', Saturday. The Education Department has withheld £175 from the Victoria Colleyo on the ground that, though tuition began on April 8, notico was not received until the 17th. Under the Act, no part of tho subsidy is payable from April 1 until the Minister for Education reports that proper tuition is being afforded ; but the Council urges that owing to the professors not arriving till April 1, and the intervention of the Easter holidays, they could not get to work within the timo prescribed.
