WHITE. White to move and win. FREEDMAN V. JACOB. The mutch belwen the Scottish champion and the Londoner ended in favour of the Inter, the final score being:-Freedman, 2 wins Jacob 5 wins, drawn 22. Freedman conceded three wins start to his opponent, and stated after the match that he would never have offered on his own responsibility to concede such a start to the runner-up in the English championship tourney. The result is hailed with delight by all English players, anil has greatly enhanced the reputation of Jacob, who held his own throughout with tho young Scottish champion. The match is described as one of the best exhibitions of draughts playing ever witnessed in London. The following position was reached in tho final gamo:—

(a' If 30- 26. or 31-26, then 16-19, 26-17, 19-23, While wins. Tlio Warnoclt-Boardman match for tlio colonial-horn championship ended in a draw, each sido scoring four wins and 20 drawn games. The London Wanderers' Championship Tourney has at last, ended in favour of 11. Jacob, who defeated I!. At well in the final by two wins to nil, and two frames wore drawn. Jacob thus becomes first holder of tli" " Stephens" cup. We have just received a letter from Dr. Schaefor, of New York, in which he writes: —'Barker has written me regarding match with Jordan: lie is willing to play, and expects to arrange matters as to stakes, etc., on February 22.' "—Draughts World. The match between Melbourne and Collingwood, in connection with the Victorian Draughts Association, which virtually decides the second round, was contested in the Collingwood Town Ball on Die 30th nit., and resulted in a victory for Melbourne. Mr. F. T. Best captained the Collingwood and Mr. F. Brown the Melbourne team. After an exciting contest Melbourne won with 5 wins to 3, and 14 games were drawn.
