LONDON COUNTY COUNCIL AND CREMATION.

At tho last meeting of the London County Council the Parliamentary Committee recommended that, in view of the probability of cremation bein« immediately adopted to a large extent, the Council should be empowered to provide and maintain means for cremation which would be of use in cases where local authorities did not consider it necessary themselves to provide such means. With this view they recommended: - (1) That the Metropolitan Burial Authorities (Cremation) Bill be not further proceeded with. r (2) That the Parliamentary Committee be instructed to make provision in the Council's vjenerai Powers Bill, or in some other private Bill of the Council, in the next session of i arhament to enable the Council and the local authorities under the Metropolitan Burials Acts to provide places for cremation, •the recommendation was adopted.
