FIRING AT MOUNT EDEN RANGE.
TO THE EDITOR. Si'.,—ln a late issue of your paper a very misleading letter appears with reference to the shooting on the Mount Eden rifle range. Happening to visit the range on Saturday last, I can prove, and also obtain a numbei of witnesses to corroborate me, that every shot fired was registered on the targets by competent markers; therefore, no bullet from the range could have found stick, book, dog, or " W.8.M." Even were a shot fired over the mountain, the velocity of the bullet would not be spent until it was a hundred yards or more from the opposite side of the mountain, unlaw fired almost straight in tho air, this being hardly feasible; and, as for ricocheting, it would be impossible.—l am, etc., A Volunteer.
