AUCKLAND. MES'JKS. G. W. BINNEY AND SON'S ItEPOET. On Tuesday we cleared a large catalogue of hides, sheepskins, tallow, etc. Hides sold under brisk competition. Picked ox sold from 6d to 6Jd, extra stout 5d to 6id. stout did to 43d, medium 4d to 41d; cow and steer, best lines, ogd to 4d; picked, to 4Jd, wet 3Jd to 33d; kip, 33d to 4d; calf, good, 4(1 to 4Jd; stag, 2Jd to 3d per lb; damaged at low prices. Sheepskins: Prices wero easier, but we expect an advance at next sales in sympathy with London advices. Local green and salted picked 2s 6d to 2s 9d, ordinary 2s to 2s 3d, small Is 3d to Is 6(1 each; dry skins, sound, at equal figures; rat-torn and weevily, 6d each less. Tallow: Picked for tanners' use. 18s 6d to 20s; good ordinary, from 15s 6(1 to 16s 9d; inferior, 10s to 12s; fat, lid to lid per lb. Hair, Horns, and Bones; No change. NEW ZEALAND LOAN AND MERCANTILE AGENCY COMPANY (LIMITED). Auckland Wool Stores, May 3. Wo had an average catalogue at our Tuesday's sale. Hides: Prices were easier for stout ox, and wo sold as follows : —Stout ox, 5(1 to 6d lb; light, and medium, 3Jd to 43d; cow, picked to 43d, ordinary 33d to 4d; calf, 3Jd to 4d; kip, 3Jd to 4d; stags, 21d to 3d. Sheepskins: Large, 2s to 2s 6(1 each; small, Is 6d to Is 10d; dry skins, Is to Is 8(1 each. Tallow, 13s to 16s cwt. Tails, Is lid dozen. Horsehair: Best tail, to Is 4d lb; cowhair. Bld to l(Hd. Maize: The quantity received this week was fairly heavy again, but as the Southern demand,was slightly better, week's rate of 2s 5(1 bushel 011 wharf was maintained. Oats: None offering on wharf, all shipments ex Rotokino having gone to store. The quotation ex the store is Is 9d bushol. Chaff: The quantity received this week by rail is very heavy, and market has eased 2s 6d ton. MA9TERTON. Messrs. Lowes and lorns report:—At our stock sale 011 April 27 we had a yarding of nearly 6000 sheep, wetluers being the feature of the sale. Bidding was particularly keen, and we made a record by soiling ovory pen under the hammer. The wethers were principally two-tooth, and made figures range from 10s lid for best; others, 10s lOd, 10s 4d; 10s, 9s 9(1, 9s 3d; small and light classes, 7s lid to 8s 3d; half-bred light-weight fat wethers, 10s Id, 10s, 9s lid, 9s lOd; best fat owes, mostly maidens, 9s 3d; others, 8s sd, 7s 9d, 7s 6d. iii lambs some really first-class woolly, 7s lid, 7s lOd, 7s, 7s 9d; shorn, 5s 9d to 6s 3d; forward ewes, 6s 3d to 7s 9d. Breeding ewes were only of medium quality, prices going from 5s to 6s 3d; culls, 4s. In cattle we penned somo light beef, mostly cows and heifers, these selling from 60s to 60s. Some useful three-year steers made 62s 6d; store cows, 455; springing hoifers, 60s to 70s; good calves, 245; others, 15s and 10s. Pigs penned wero mostly small, making from 10s to 15s. Pony, £7.

STRATFORD AND HAWERA. The Egmont Farmers' Union, Limited, Hawera, reports on April 28:— Stratford on the 21st infit. not much stock came forward owing to tho wet coming, but most of those yarded wero of good quality. Bidding was dull throughout Two to 21-year steers, £2 7s 6(1 to £2 16s; store cows, £1 18s to £2 ss; 18-month steers, £1 9s to £1 12s 6d; and springers, £2 10s to £3 ss. At Hawera on the 27th inst. wo had a fair yarding of cattle, but a shortage of ox beef. The attendance was large, and bidding for all classes of stock was more animated than of late. Most of etock changed hands before leaving the yards. Pat and forward buliocks, light weights, £4 7s to £5 2s 6d; fat cows, £3 to £3 9s; fat and forward cows and heifers, £2 0s 6d to £2 8s; 2J to 3-year steers, £3 Is to £3 10s; 2 to 2J-year steers, £2 4s to £3; 18-month steers, £1 8s to £1 12s; heifers, £1 15s to £1 12s; and lambs, shorn, ss. WANGANUI. Messrs. Freoman R. Jackson and Co. report:—A fair entry of sheep came forward at St. Hill-street. Bidding was brisk throughout, and good clearances made. The entry of cattle was small. Pigs in largo supply sold readily, and, if anything, at better prices. Wo quote:—Cattle: Yearlings, mostly steers, 255; 15-month steers, 325; aged cows, 22s to 30s; milkers. £2 5s to £5 2s 6d. Sheep: Forward ewes. 6s 9d; fat owes. 7s to 7s 10d; fat wethers, 10s 4d; store ewes, 53 3d to 6s; store wethers, 8s 7d to 9s 7d; good Lincoln lambs, 7s 9d. Pigs: Bacon pigs, 38s to 51s; porkers, 26s to 355; smaller do., 18s to 245; stores, 143 to 16s 6d; slips, 86 to 14s.
