COOK ISLANDS.
[FROM OCR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Rarotonga, April 27. On Tuesday a Government Gazette was published, ill which it was announced that the Rnrotonga Council revenue would henceforth !bo incorporated with the revenue of the ' General Government of the Cook Islands, and so forthwith tho Councils of the other islands of the Federation; also, that it was the intention of the Government to appoint a European magistrate, with two assessors, for tho island of Aitutaki, and to cancel all obsolete laws and form new laws, as may be found necessary, at the different islands of the group. Mr. A. Von Hoff has been gazetted auditor of the accounts of the Federal Government. All prohibition orders against Europeans have been cancelled that had been issued to date, in consequence of its being " a time of rejoicing" at the visit of the Governor of New Zealand. , I have heard that the Governor, Lord Eaufurly, has taken with him to New Zealand a quantity of books and papers in connection with the Moss Administration. The British Resident has made arrangements . to' proceed on bis first ■ visit ;to the neighbouring - islands ;in tho ■ local - schooner Ngamaruariki,' in about 10 d?ys hence. • ■ - It has been gazetted that the duty on all spirit! . imported i shall : in future '.bo. at _the rate 'of : 12s per gallon, ~ in. the place of 10 per cent, ad valorem as before.
