MR. WARD AT BRISBANE.

THE RELATIONS OF THE COLONIES. By Telegraph.-Pres3 ABSociation.-Copyright.

Brisbane, January 27. The Government entertained the Hon. J. G. Ward on board the Government yacht. The Minister for Justice, in proposing the health of the guest, wished succes* to New Zealand.

Mr. Ward, in responding, aid, though New Zealand was some distance away, it was greatly interested in the development of the Australian colonies, and was watching the Federal movement with general interest. He was glad to see Queensland joining heartily in the movement. 'He hoped, when federation was consummated that a commercial treaty between the Dominion and New Zealand would be effected. Isolation and distance prevented New Zealand joining the present movement, but there was no barrier whatever to a mutually beneficial commercial treaty, advantageous to both.

Mr. Ward was also entertained by the Natives' Association in the evening. He advocated the natives of Australia and New Zealand joining in building up an Empire, and developing national feeling.
