REGATTA DAY.
As January 29 (Anniversary Day) falls on Sunday, the holiday will bo obsorved on •Monday, January 30, when tho annual regatta will take place, tho first race starting at nine a.m. The Union Company 8 steamer Mokoin will act as flagship, and will be moored in tho stream, between the Queenstreet and the Railway Wharves. The Northern Company's steamer Wakatere will leave for Cnwe* Bay. Waiheke, at nine a m , the Clansman for Waiwera at ten a.m., and the Wellington for,M«hurangi Heads at hall-past ten a.m. The s.s. Rose Casoy will leave for Putiki Bay. Waiheke, at ton a.m. The steamers of tho Devonport Steam Ferry Company will run excursion trips to Pino Island, Lake Takapuna, Rangitoto, Motutanu and the fishing grounds, and St. HeHers Bay, and a quick and regular service will DO maintained between North Shore Northcoto and Birkenhead. The Union Free Church ..ionic will be held on tho racecourse at Kohlmarama. full particulars appearing in our advertising columns. Tho now steamor Kapanui loaves for the Kawau at nine a.m., landing excursionists on the wharf, and afterwards going to tho fishing grounds. What promises to be an enjoyable excursion Will take place on Monday, when the Onehunga Rifles will proceed by the s.s. Kameri to Whilu, calling en route at Huia. Ine newly-formed band will head a procession 0 tho corps from the top of Queen-street, and afterwards accompany them to tho rendezvous. As the place chosen is a new one for holiday-makers, there will no doubt be a largo attendance.
