THE TOURNAMENT FUNDS.
As regards the action taken to pre;', vent the hinds from the Military || Tournament being devoted to the. ( Queen's Statue, we understand that |- the writ is issued in the name of Mr\; Stichbury. This has been served onj Colonel Banks, Mr. Clemens, and . Mi Millei, and notice has been given 7 to the bank. We cannot understand g the conduct of Colonel Banks in thiig matter. He was authorised to hand, over the money by the meeting held |i on last Tuesday week. Messrs. Clemens and Miller signed the cheque < at once, but Colonel Banks left nert . day for Waikato without signing. Hell returned on the Saturday, but would dpj| nothing, and now of course the money must abide the event oi the litigation.; We do not suppose there is air/aground for suspecting collusion, but;, if he had tried he could not hftv%| moro completely played into th#T hands of those who are endeavouring to prevent the money being devoted, to the Queen's Statue. They may be' successful in attaining that object,'' because this fund, which has already | been severely bled by doubtful payments, refreshments, etc., etc., willexpire altogether in a Supreme Court litigation.
