The postal and telegraph revenue for the December quarter of Inst year amounted to £109,758, being an increase of £10,861 over the corresponding quarter of 1897. The postal receipts were £65,119, and the telegraph receipts £44,659, as against £56 440 and £42,457 for the corresponding period of last year, giving increases of I £8679 and £2182 respectively. Stamps sold for postage realised £69,504, ! an increase of £8721. Paid nu ™ g bered 712,121, of the value of £26,232, « against 643,801, at the value of £24,634 in the December quarter of 1897, an increase of 68,320 telegrams, and £1600 in amount.
